Job Title:  Assistant IT Officer -Elearning

About US:

Metropolitan International University (MIU) is a private university that was established by the National Council for Higher Education in November 2016, in accordance with the laws of Uganda. MIU is accredited to run academic programmes at all levels of the Higher education system.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop high-quality eLearning resources with the eLearning Technologist(s).
• Advise staff on using technology in teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Support the Teaching, Learning, and Students team to deliver customer-focused services.
• Assist staff with using the University’s digital learning environment (DLE).
• Participate in the University-wide eLearning network.
• Contribute to reports on eLearning activities.
• Engage in continuing professional development.
• Ensure compliance with University policies, including health and safety, equality, diversity, inclusion, and information governance.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The ideal applicants should possess at least Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Software Engineering
• At least one (3) year experience in relevant field.

Essential:

• Experience in developing learner-focused materials/activities.
• Understanding of planning, designing, developing, testing, and evaluating eLearning resources.
• Awareness of online learning pedagogy and effective teaching practices.
• Collaborative working skills with subject matter experts and staff.
• Ability to resolve problems independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
• Commitment to professional development.
• Experience in eLearning projects and using learning software/web applications.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of instructional design/pedagogy for eLearning.
• User experience/accessibility design or testing.
• Video and audio production skills.
• Experience in coding (JavaScript or other scripting languages
