Job Title: Accounts Assistant (Fresher Jobs)

Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for billing students, debtors, and other incomes to the University every semester.
- Submitting scholarship reports through the Senior Accountant to the Scholarship Committee.
- Preparing income reports every month.
- Providing a list of doubtful debtors.
- Controlling credit and following up on debt.
- Cross-checking payment amounts and records for accuracy.
- Preparing monthly reconciliations.
- Preparing financial reports.
- Ensuring safe custody and maintaining financial records.
- Any other cross-checking duty as shall be assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with bias in Accounting or Finance, or any other related Accounting and Finance Degree obtained from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- Must have at least level II of professional qualification in Accounting like CPA or ACCA.
- At least two years’ work experience as an Accounts Assistant; Familiarity with basic accounting principles; ability to work as part of a team and take direction accurately.
- Knowledge of computer accounting packages like Pastel, SAP is a MUST.
- Should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work beyond normal working hours.
- Must be a mature and practicing Christian.
