CNOOC International is one of the largest oil and gas companies in Uganda’s energy sector and owns one-third interests in each of Exploration Areas (EA) EA1/1A, EA2 and Kingfisher. Our partners are Total E&P Uganda (33.3%) and Tullow Oil (33.3%). CNOOC International operates the Kingfisher production license.

Job Summary: Provide support and participate in overall safety management of the drilling and completion operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, audit drilling & completions contractors and 3rd Party vendors on compliance with CNOOC Uganda Limited safety management systems industrial standards. Uganda laws and regulations during the drilling completion and workover operations rig moves drilling waste transportation and treatment.
  • Participate in evaluation and tracking of contractor HSE reports on a weekly monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Implement routine HSE inspections and track all findings to ensure continuous improvement during hazard identification and rectification.
  • Conduct safety training and safety alert sharing for the D&C contractors to ensure understanding of the CNOOC Uganda Limited safety management systems and lessons learnt
  • Organize or participate in various on-site emergency dis and perform emergency response-related responsibilities
  • Participate in safety inti dent/accident investigations through root cause analysis and prepare incident reports in a timely manner
  • Supervise high-risk operations (i.e. critical lifting, confined space entry). Participate in safety meetings or TBT before the contractors high-risk operations and review related PTW/ JSA.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the CUL relevant departments on issues related to on-site HSE management
  • Perform other duties assigned by superiors.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in 01 and Gas Engineering Environmental Management or related
  • Certification related to on-site safer/ management is an added advantage
  • At least 4 years of working experience in a similar rote, preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of international HSE Management Systems such as ISO. OSHA. etc
  • Knowledge of the related laws and regulations of Uganda
  • Understanding of the 01 and Gas industry HSE standards and procedures
