Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and experienced Network Engineer to join our team at Spidd Africa LTD. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in network engineering and a strong passion for designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable and secure network infrastructures. As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, performance, and security of our network systems to support the diverse needs of our clients and stakeholders.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage complex network infrastructures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices.
  • Configure and optimize network hardware, software, and protocols to meet the specific requirements and objectives of our clients.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to identify and resolve connectivity, latency, and security issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network solutions that align with the business goals and objectives of our clients.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, to safeguard against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to clients and end-users regarding network-related inquiries, issues, and escalations.
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in networking to recommend and implement improvements and enhancements to our network infrastructure.
  • Support with technical writeups and presales activities to the business development team.

Leadership and Relationship Roles:

  • Maintains contact with key internal stakeholders in matters of Enterprise Systems Support
  • Closely liaises with Project Team, technical service teams and business heads
  • Delegate’s authority and responsibility with accountability and follow-up
  • Demonstrates ability, interacts and cooperates with all within the organization

Key Performance Indicators

  • Incident Resolution Time: Measure the time taken to resolve incidents and service- related issues. KPI target: Prompt resolution within predefined timeframes.
  • Continual Learning: Evaluate the consultant’s commitment to staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends. KPI target: Participation in relevant training and certification programs.
  • Project Delivery: Track the successful completion of allocated projects within scope, budget, and schedule. KPI target: On-time and on-budget project delivery
  • Client Satisfaction: Gather feedback from clients regarding the consultant’s performance, responsiveness, and effectiveness in addressing customer concerns. KPI target: High client satisfaction scores.

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in network engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware and software, such as Cisco routers and switches, Juniper firewalls, and other industry-standard networking devices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are a plus.
  • Experience with cloud networking technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) is desirable
  • Experience in Cyber security is desirable
