Job Summary: The Marketing and Legal Affairs Manager will drive business development through strategic market planning, contract risk management, and stakeholder engagement while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. The role involves identifying growth opportunities, leading contract negotiations, representing the company at industry events, and integrating legal oversight into marketing operations to support COSL Uganda’s strategic objectives in the oil and gas sector.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Develop and implement strategic market development plans in collaboration with the Project Team.
  • Conduct market research to identify new markets, industry trends, and expansion opportunities.
  • Analyze market conditions, competitor activities, and client needs to support decision-making.

Contract Risk Management

  • Oversee contract planning, negotiation, and compliance with legal standards and company policies.
  • Maintain organized contract records and manage the contract lifecycle from negotiation to renewal.
  • Conduct regular contract audits and initiate amendments as needed.
  • Networking and Industry Representation
  • Represent COSL at industry conferences and networking events to build relationships.
  • Develop partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies and industry associations.

Legal Affairs

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, legal standards, and corporate governance.
  • Provide legal insights during negotiations to mitigate risks and ensure contract compliance.
  • Assist in resolving legal disputes related to contracts, tenders, or partnerships.
  • Stay updated on legal developments in the oil and gas sector and align company practices accordingly.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of market/business development, marketing network management, bidding, contract management, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Proficiency in English with strong communication skills for liaising with headquarters and departments.
  • Strong computer and document processing skills.
  • Excellent coordination, execution, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with national oil & gas policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Understanding of oil & gas industry marketing development.
