Job Title: Computing Intern (No Experience Jobs)

About Organisation:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist students in designing, developing, testing, and debugging software, AI, Robotics and Data centre-related projects with special focus on applying Machine Learning and Deep Learning models.
- Manage lab equipment daily usage, encompassing inventory, tracking, maintenance, and data management of lab equipment and implement procedures for optimal and accountable use of equipment by students.
- Assist students in setting up and executing practical activities as guided by respective course lecturers. Assist in grading practical assignments and practical projects.
- Mentor students in their respective chapters and provide technical support for them to complete their respective projects, including participation in competitions.
- Participating in the department’s community outreach programs, exhibitions, and conferences.
- Participate in personal and professional skills development activities such as certifications, research, and postgraduate studies.
- Conduct literature reviews to stay updated on the latest research and support the department’s research teams.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in any program offered by the Department of Computing and Technology at Uganda Christian University with a CGPA of not less than 4.0.
- Should have graduated within three years before the internship begins.
- Must be a mature and practicing Christian of integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
Experience and Key Competencies:
- Technical skills: Strong problem-solving skills and a curious mindset. Intermediate understanding of Artificial Intelligence, robotics, Networking, Systems administration and Data Analytics and their application to different fields.
- Public speaking skills: ability to communicate clearly to individuals and small and large groups.
- Interpersonal professional skills: ability to cooperate and network on a multidisciplinary team.
