Founded by Cuthbert and Olive Muhanguzi, the company was established on 23rd August 2007. Since its inception, S&S Ent Ltd has grown into a dynamic business with diverse operations, including a salon, washing bay, cyber café, supermarket, restaurant, and a private fresh produce bakery.
Job Summary: As we continue to grow, we seek a highly capable Accountant to join our Finance team and ensure accurate, timely financial management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
General Ledger & Bookkeeping
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all journal entries are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier/vendor statements, and inter‐company accounts monthly.
- Post transactions—sales, purchases, receipts, and payments—using Tally, RiteBook, QuickBooks, and other appropriate software.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and schedule payments according to agreed terms.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices; monitor receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Payroll & Statutory Remittances
- Collaborate with HR to process monthly payroll, including computation of salaries, deductions, and statutory contributions (NSSF, PAYE, NHIF).
- Prepare and submit all statutory returns (e.g., PAYE returns, VAT filings, withholding taxes) to URA in accordance with deadlines.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Provide actionable insights to management by analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and cost drivers.
Tax Compliance & Audit Support
- Prepare and file VAT returns, PAYE returns, and other tax returns as required by URA.
- Ensure timely issuance of tax clearance certificates.
- Liaise with external auditors during statutory audits; provide schedules, reconciliations, and support as needed.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Implement and maintain stringent internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Review existing accounting procedures and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in the development and rollout of new accounting policies and procedures.
Software & Systems Management
- Maintain expertise in Tally, RiteBook, QuickBooks, and other accounting systems used within the enterprise.
- Train and support relevant staff on accounting software usage and best practices.
- Coordinate with IT to ensure data backups, software updates, and resolve any system‐related issues promptly.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (minimum).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
Technical Proficiency
- Expert‐level proficiency in Tally, RiteBook, QuickBooks; familiarity with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas).
- Hands‐on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Solid understanding of IFRS/Ugandan GAAP and local tax legislation (URA regulations).
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years’ post‐qualification experience in accounting/bookkeeping, preferably within a multi‐department retail or service enterprise.
- Proven track record of managing full‐cycle accounting, reconciling complex accounts, and preparing tax filings.

- Team Player: Collaborative attitude; able to coordinate with cross‐functional teams (HR, Operations, IT) to achieve shared objectives.
