About the Company:
The Judicial Service Commission is a Constitutional body established under Article 146 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, whose mandate is to recruit judicial officers and regulate their conduct.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assisting the Chief Justice in the administration of the High Court of Uganda and the subordinate courts, in accordance with Article 133 of the Constitution of Uganda;
- Adjudicating such matters within the unlimited jurisdiction of the High Court pursuant to Article 139(i) of the Constitution of Uganda; and
- Performing other functions as may be delegated or assigned by the Chief Justice.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Applicants shall be Ugandan citizens in possession of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree (at least a Second-Class Lower Division) from a recognised university or institution; they shall also have a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre or from any other recognised institution within the East African Region. Any other advanced or postgraduate qualification/s will be an added advantage.
- Applicants must have served as a Judge of the High Court or a Court of similar jurisdiction to such a Court, or have practised as an Advocate for a period of not less than fifteen (15) years before a Court with unlimited jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters.
