Job Summary: On a rolling basis, the project conducts a range of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities in Bidi-Bidi Refugee settlement, Yumbe District, Uganda. To support these efforts, the IRC seeks to engage qualified MEAL Volunteer on a temporary basis to assist in data collection, entry, and preliminary analysis.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and update relevant data using approved MEAL tools, platforms, and methodologies under the Integrated Protection Project.
- Report daily to the Senior Protection Officer under the technical guidance of MEAL Manager he or she will support routine project activities.
- Support the updating and monitoring of project databases in collaboration with the MEAL and protection teams.
- Ensure proper storage and filing of all MEAL-related documents in designated physical and digital locations.
- Perform data cleaning, entry, and preliminary analysis to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Run quality and consistency checks on collected data and make corrections where necessary.
- Collaborate with Project focal people from various Zones to collect activity data
- Provide administrative support to the MEAL team at the IRC office when required.
- Participate in regular data review meetings, provide feedback, and support data-driven decision-making with MEAL Officers and program teams.
- Take part in surveys, assessments, and evaluations, supporting data management processes.
- Conduct routine data backups and update M&E files (both physical and digital) at scheduled intervals.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support MEAL and program implementation.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics, M&E, or a related field.
- Additional certification in Monitoring and Evaluation or Statistics is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of monitoring, client feedback, and accountability systems.
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods is preferred.
- Prior experience working with diverse community groups, including youth and adults.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Willingness and ability to travel to and work within field sites in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement.
- Fluency in local languages spoken within and around the refugee settlement is mandatory.
- Qualified Locals of Yumbe are highly encouraged to apply.
