Meridian Tobacco Company (MTC) is a US$20 million complex based in Arua, engaged in tobacco growing and processing. MTC began production in 2014 currently consisting of 32,000m² manufacturing facilities and storage. MTC has a processing capacity of 30 million Kgs per year of tobacco.
Job Summary: The job holder shall be tasked with the overseeing of network cables, Internet, software related troubleshoots and restoration, hard ware & equipment repairs, and modification works for CCTV Cameras, advising on better service providers, be the contact person with service providers, provide timely relay of concerns or feedback to potential suppliers or software developers amongst others.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintaining essential IT operations, including installation and configuring of operating systems, security tools, applications, and servers, network cables etc.
- Providing timely update, system redesigns to the current spare parts and stock usage monitoring software to ensure an efficient database at all times.
- Keeping track of the computer/ accessories registers to track software validity as well as give recommendations for changes as and when necessary.
- Troubleshoot technical issues to resolutions and or forward to suppliers or partners in a timely manner for redress.
- Expedite on the repair of hardware faults and software configurations, notifying or forwarding to relevant suppliers on a timely basis.
- Provide technical assistances to project teams when required.
- Liaising with the IT team from back office for all issues relating to the configuration, installations and trouble – shooting of the attendance machine and servers.
- Monitoring and devising of timely redress for any spoiled or arising faults with the CCTV cameras in the factory, advising on redistribution/ repositioning to allow for enhanced visibility and better surveillance.
- Preparing weekly and monthly reports on the spare parts for laptops, printers and machinery imports and submitting to Finance and procurement team.
- Perform extension, regular follow up and maintenance and ensure the Tally software (and any other management or accounting software) database is kept up to date.
- Any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The desired Candidate for the Position should possess the Qualities as outlined;
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or its equivalent.
- Possession of a minimum 3 years of experience as an IT support specialist in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in hardware repair and maintenance plus the ability to handle critical and large volume of data & records.
- Proven experience in general networking, CCTV operations and software networking.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and must be good with relaying timely information, records and meeting required datelines.
