Job Summary:   The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and administration of human resource strategies, policies, and programs. The role will ensure compliance with labor laws, promote a productive workforce, and support business objectives through effective people management in a high-performance manufacturing environment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

HR Strategy & Planning

  • Align HR operations with business goals and factory production targets.
  • Develop and implement HR plans that support employee engagement, performance, and compliance.
  • Advise leadership on workforce planning and people-related matters.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment for factory and administrative roles.
  • Partner with department heads to identify staffing needs.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding and orientation of new hires.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Foster a positive industrial relations climate through effective employee communication and conflict resolution.
  • Serve as the key liaison between management and employees/unions.
  • Manage disciplinary processes and grievances in accordance with labor law.

Performance Management

  • Implement and oversee the performance appraisal system and KPIs aligned with operational targets.
  • Support department heads in identifying training and development needs based on performance gaps.
  • Promote a performance-driven culture within the factory.

Training & Development

  • Design and coordinate training programs to upskill the workforce in compliance, safety, and technical capacity.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory training requirements (e.g., health & safety

Compensation & Benefits

  • Work with Finance to manage payroll accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.
  • Ensure fair and competitive remuneration aligned with market trends and internal equity.
  • Administer employee benefits and statutory deductions (NSSF, PAYE, etc.).

Compliance & Policy Enforcement

  • Ensure adherence to Ugandan labor laws and company policies.
  • Regularly review and update HR manuals and SOPs.
  • Maintain complete, updated employee records and reports.

Health, Safety & Welfare

  • Collaborate with HSE officers to implement occupational health and safety programs.
  • Promote employee welfare initiatives and well-being at the workplace.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of HR experience in a manufacturing or factory setting, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven knowledge of Ugandan labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong background in industrial relations, especially within unionized environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems, HRIS, and reporting tools
