The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The PAU’s mandate is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.
Job Summary: To provide support on the maintenance of the Core Store and associated equipment and inventory.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertake daily maintenance of the Core store and geosample laboratory
- Participate in data management, archival, and updating of electronic databases with respect to physical geological samples received from oil and gas activities
- Prepare and maintain an updated sample database for cores, cuttings, gas, crude oil, water, and other related samples
- Regularly monitor humidity and temperature readings in the Core store and report any anomalies to the Line Supervisor
- Undertake routine Core store cleaning and maintenance/servicing of Core Store equipment
- Attend to data requests pertaining to geosamples.
- Participate in the procurement of consumables and equipment whenever required.
- Undertake storage, curation, and organization of samples in the Core Store
- Undertake any other assignments as may be directed from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Diploma in Oil and Gas Engineering, Petroleum Geosciences, Laboratory Technology or a related field from a recognized institution
