Job Title: Assistant Commissioner-Finance and Accounting

About the Company:
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is established as a Statutory Body under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau Act Cap. 210. The Bureau is a key player in Commercial, Civil and Intellectual Property Rights Registration that facilitate private sector development and vital statistics for national planning.
Job Summary: To oversee financial operations, for accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards and guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements.
- Preparing accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Monitoring and analyzing financial (NTR) performance or URSB, identifying trends and variances.
- Managing and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Processing financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Participating in strategic planning and decision-making related to financial matters.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
EITHER
- Bachelor’s degree in either Finance, Accounting, Financial Accounting or Commerce from a recognized University or institution.
OR
- Full Professional qualification in Accountancy such as CIA, ACCA, CPA, CA from a recognised awarding institution.
AND
- Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting or Business Administration, from a recognized University or institution.
- Registered member of the Institute of Chartered Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
Work Experience
- At least nine (9) years’ work experience in accounts, six (6) of which should have been at the level of Senior Accountant or Senior Finance Officer level in a reputable government or private institution.
