The Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is an indigenous medical organization that was established in 1991 as a limited liability not-for-profit Joint-venture between the Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Defense and Makerere University Medical School (now Makerere University College of Health Sciences). JCRC is located on plot 101 Lubowa Hill Off Entebbe Road P.O. Box 10005 Kampala.
About USAID Project:
USAID’s Local Partner Health Services – Kigezi & Lango is a five-year Activity implemented by Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC). The activity is aimed at supporting the continuation of technical assistance for the implementation of a district-based, integrated package of quality HIV/AIDS and TB services to the beneficiary population in the Nine districts in Lango sub-region. The main goal of the activity is to increase the availability, accessibility and utilization of quality, integrated HIV and TB services. Additionally, the Activity will temporarily support lifesaving activities in the Ankole and Acholi regions
Job Summary: The Stores Assistant will provide professional stores management support to the Project in line with the stores and stocks management and operational policies and guidelines, while ensuring value for money, efficiency and effectiveness. This will include timely reporting of all stock status and movements and hence will require a fast learner, self-driven, seasoned, and experienced person with skills to manage and oversee these technical areas. The person should have the capacity to work under minimum supervision, and maintain a clean stores record and transparent system while adhering to set procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keep the store’s inventory records updated.
- Actively participate in the receipt and issue of all supplies.
- Track products’ expiry dates and dispatched supplies according to expiry dates (FeFo or FIFO) to avoid product expiry.
- Maintain the stores in accordance with the set standards, and check that safety measures are in place and are adhered to.
- Work closely with the supervisor to ensure sufficient space for all products received.
- Work with the supervisor to ensure that supplies are dispatched in a timely manner, and to the intended beneficiaries, and that all deliverables are signed for.
- The jobholder will minimize all areas of inventory and product damage and loss
- Actively participate in periodic stock counting/taking and compile reports.
- Participate in the monthly department report writing.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma in Transport logistics, procurement & supply chain management or any other related field. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in the same filed will be an added advantage)
- A minimum of three years’ relevant work experience in a similar position in an NGO Setting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with excellent MS Word, Excel skills and Navision system.
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, particularly as related to report development.
- Purchasing & supply Knowledge with Stores Management Experience.
- A person with High Integrity.
