Job Title:  Sociologist (2 Positions)

Organisation: Tesla Technical Services

Duty Station: Moyo, Uganda

 

About Organisation:

Tesla Technical services limited was incorporated on 6th day of November the year 2013 with three core business areas which include; power lines and substation works, Building construction and service provision in the telecommunication sector.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulating and reviewing policies and guidelines on community mobilization in the water sector.
  • Personnel and Private Sector actors engaged in community mobilization activities.
  • Networking with relevant stakeholders (Ministries of Health, Gender, Labour & Social Development, Education & Sports, NGOs, Private and others) in monitoring the use of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and impact tracking.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and regulating the implementation of community mobilization and integration of gender strategy in water sector activities.
  • Planning, budgeting and implementing all social and gender mainstreaming activities in the Directorate.
  • Documenting reforms and experiences learnt in the sector for use in decision making subsequent.
  • Report Writing: Communicating research findings effectively is essential. Sociologists write reports, articles, and academic papers detailing methodologies, data analyses, and conclusions for publication in academic journals or presentation at conferences.
  • Policy Analysis: They may analyze social issues to provide insights that inform public policy decisions. This involves evaluating the impact of policies on communities and proposing potential solutions to address societal challenges.
  • Consultation: will serve as consultants for organizations or government agencies by providing expertise on social trends and cultural dynamics that guide decision-making processes and give technical advice.
  • Social Advocacy: Engage in advocacy work using their research to raise awareness about social injustices and contribute to positive social change.
  • Supervision of sociologists assigned in the project.
  • And perform any other duties assigned from time to time.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Possess a Bachelors’ Degree in Social Sciences majoring in Sociology as a subject. Or Social sciences;
  • Have experience in community or Stakeholder management of 3-5yrs
  • Can be able to speak Luo, Acholi and English
  • A Problem solver
  • Great Negotiation Skills
  • Report writing skills.
  • Critical Thinking skills.
  • Great communication skills
