UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) is a registered financial institution in Uganda and is adherent to the Central Bank’s regulations and guidelines and was founded in 1994 to provide quality microfinance services.
Job Summary: Responsible for supporting the Head of HR in the development and attainment of HR strategy by facilitating, maintaining, updating and delivering the objectives of the Human Resources Strategy and Human Resources Business Plan to facilitate a sound HR practice and as part of the robust HR process at UGAFODE (MDI).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Selection: Manages and coordinates process of recruitment & selection for all positions below Senior Management team (SMT) with support from Head-HR and Line Managers and within compliance to internal HR policies, practices and risk perspectives.
- HR Business Partnering: Responsible for all HR related advisory services including staffing, rotation, performance management, etc for the core business functions i.e. Credit Administration, Business Generation & Operations Departments in conjunction with respective HoDs.
- HR Policy & Compliance Custodian: Ensure all HR related activities within the role are done as per policy, within statutory requirements and or HR best practice. Where necessary, participate in the review and implementation of HR Policy and ensure policy changes are followed and implemented and staff are duly sensitized.
- HR Audits: In charge of coordinating all the scheduled HR Audits (internal & external) by ensuring due compliance, information collection and provision to the Internal Audit team and ensuring a successful Audit for the department.
- Staff Discipline: In coordination with Head-HR, manages the disciplinary hearing process from an HR’s position by taking minutes of the proceedings and submitting them to committee members in accurate and timely manner to support related decisions.
- HR Budget: Supports the Head of HR to develop and monitor the staff costs budget in liaison with HR business partners and respective line managers so as to contain HR spend within compliance levels.
- HR Reporting: Develops daily/weekly/monthly reports on HR activities. Ensure the necessary management information required (HR Analytics) is provided to the business departments as and when needed in enhancing efficiency & accountability
- Succession Planning: Takes lead in developing the institution’s Succession Plan to ensure business continuity and ensures its implementation and update are in tandem with institutional changes in manpower.
- Team Management and Leadership takes full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, focusing on all aspects of sound people management e.g. Performance Management, Career path planning, On-the-job training, Employee engagement etc
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Social sciences, Psychology or Business Administration. A postgraduate qualification/certification in HRM is Must (e.g. CIPD SHRM, PGD IN HRM, Admin Law etc.)
- Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in Human Resource Management in a Financial Institution of which 2 years was directly handling payroll. A Professional Member of HRMAU. Sound knowledge of the Uganda labour laws and familiarity with the International Labour laws.
- Basic knowledge of Banking HR Operations
- Proficient in MS Office and Human Resource Management systems (HRMIS).
- Excellent analytical, planning and decision-making abilities.
- Possesses good Interpersonal skills.
- Solution-focused, Innovative and flexible thinker with a strong “can do” attitude.
