About Organisation:

Partners in Population and Development Africa Regional Office (PPD ARO) is part of the Global PPD which is a southern-led and southern-run Inter-Governmental alliance of developing countries, that was founded during the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo, Egypt in 1994. PPD was founded to expand and strengthen South-South collaboration between and among the developing countries in the field of reproductive health, population and development in the context of implementation of the ICPD agenda. PPD has a membership of 27 developing countries, 15 of which are in Africa.

 

Job Summary:   Working in close collaboration with staff at the Africa Regional Office, the Driver is responsible for performing tasks related to driving and maintenance of PPD Africa Regional Office vehicles in a safe and economic manner according to the traffic laws and regulations of Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   Under the supervision of the Finance and Administration Officer, PPD Africa Regional Office, the Driver is responsible for;

  • Transportation of staff and visitors as instructed
  • Ensuring safety of passenger and allocated vehicles at all times.
  • Maintenance of allocated vehicle mileage records to ensure that all trips, fuel fill up, time reading are recorded.
  • Maintenance of vehicle allocated in sound mechanical conditions and general cleanliness.
  • Prompt delivery of mails, equipment and maintain records of delivery.
  • Timely servicing of the vehicle allocated.
  • Parking of the office vehicle at close of business and handover the keys to the designated officer.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor and / or Head of Department




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  Successful candidates for this post will respond as much as possible to the following profile:

  • Knowledge in defensive driving
  • Possession of at least a Uganda Certificate of Education
  • Clean record of driving in a reputable organization.
  • Possession of driving permit.
  • No record of fatal accident.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of experience driving for organizations and/or government

Abilities & aptitudes

  • Good communication skills.
  • Time management
  • Adherence to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Attention to details
  • Alertness on job at all times
