Job Title: Dispenser

Duty Station: Entebbe, Uganda
About Organisation:
EMERGENCY opened the Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe to provide free paediatric surgical care in Uganda, one of the youngest countries in the world: more than half the population is under 15. When the hospital first opened in 2021, the mortality rate for children under five in Uganda was 43 for every 1,000 live births.
Job Summary: The Dispenser manages the hospital pharmacy, ensuring accurate dispensing of medications and proper inventory management for pediatric patients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compound drugs and give out medicines to patients.
- Prepare sterile and pathogens-free infusions.
- Advise patients and attendants in the proper use and storage of medicines.
- Carry out regular servicing and ensure that they are functional.
- Identify, classify, keep stock, and adhere to the professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
- Participate in training of students and other health workers.
- Compile reports on drugs usage and submit to the Senior Dispenser.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must have a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
Other Requirements:
- Should have communication, counseling, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
Competencies:
- Pharmacy management and drug dispensing.
- Patient counseling and education.
- Inventory and stock management.
