Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act (Cap 110). the Laws of Uganda and in conformity with the Electricity Act, 1999. UEGCL started operation on 1st April 2001 and is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, with the head office located in Kampala. The mandate of UEGCL is to establish, acquire, maintain and operate electricity generation facilities as well as promote Research and Development in the Electricity generation sector while running the company on sound business principles.
Job Summary: Responsible for maintenance and installation of the gadgets and contraptions which are used to manage and regulate engineering processes and systems in the power plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Brief Description of duties or the responsibilities for the job
- Implement designs and developed modifications to the process control systems when necessary.
- Carry out installation or repair work with the C&I engineer and suppliers/contractors.
- Prepare repair reports for future reference
- Maintain equipment used in monitoring and control of the power plant processes and machinery.
- Carry out tests and maintenance of existing systems as prepared by the C&I engineer.
- Work collaboratively with operation staff on call for emergencies.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and come up with recommendations for maintenance crew
- Calibrate monitoring, control and measuring devices
- Participate in compiling allocated work packages
- Collect and trend data from monitoring and control systems for analysis
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a Higher National Technical Diploma (HNTD) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Software Engineering.
- Specific qualifications in control and instrumentation engineering is an added advantage.
Related Job Experience/Qualification: The Experience required to perform this job.
- At Least 3 years’ experience at a power plant, heavy manufacturing industry, processing plant, a major repair workshop or similar work places.

- Ability to understand designs of control and instrumentation soft and hardware packages.
- Ability to specify replacement/spare parts.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Sound knowledge regarding safety measures.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and be on call at any time.
- Must be highly organized, systematic and precise in work.
- Strong computer skills including the ability to use design software and prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyse data and trends.
