Job Title:  Grow Out Feeding Supervisor (2 Jobs)

About the Company:

Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.

 

Job Summary:   To oversee all feeding-related work as well as Coordinate the feeding team on Site.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the members of your line feed their fish properly to obtain a maximum growth rate and minimum FCR.
  • Ensuring feeders are collecting and disposing mortalities correctly.
  • Daily checks of each cage: you need to spend time with each feeder feeding each cage daily.
  • Placing an order of feed for your line(site) with the feed store supervisor in advance as per the feeding requirements.
  • Conducting toolbox safety talks with your team on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that your team has the required resources needed to perform their duties.
  • Report any issues with any cage immediately to the Line Manager.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of each units feeding performance with the team leaders.
  • Ensure that yourself and whole team adhere to health and safety practices set out by the company.
  • Cross verify all empty feed bags with the feeder against the data and what is fed in a day.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fisheries and aquaculture or related course from a recognized institution
  • Experience with cage farming is beneficial
  • Must be able to swim

  • Hardworking, capable of being involved in farming operations
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must be confident to give out instructions and lead a team
  • Must show good endurance and persistence.
  • Must have an eye for detail
  • Must be willing to constantly learn more and develop their knowledge and skills
