About UNBS:
Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives responsible for Standardization, Quality Assurance, Metrology (Measurement), and Laboratory Testing (SQMT) with the objectives of facilitating fair trade, promoting local industries and protecting consumers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Standards Officers will mainly provide standardization activities to UNBS stakeholders and the successful candidates shall be required to perform the following duties;
- Develop, implement and enforce National Standards as guided by UNBS Act, regulations and procedures
- Offer technical and scientific input in the planning and operations of UNBS standardization programmes
- Conduct stakeholder analysis and incorporate requirements in the work programmes in consultation with the supervisors
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Conduct any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors or management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants should possess an Honours Degree in Engineering (Civil, Automotive, Petroleum, Mechanical and Electrical), Chemistry, Food Science and Technology and Physics qualifications from recognized University/Institutions
- The applicants must be computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications.
- At least two years’ post-graduation experience
- The successful candidates need to be team players, excellent communicators with good oral communication and presentation skills.
- The successful candidate must be presentable, a person of integrity, with good communication ability, a high level of professionalism and a team player.
