Job Summary:   The Research team lead is responsible for developing, reviewing, piloting and implementing research tools, data analysis and writing the study report to provide. This role reports to the MEAL Manager in Uganda. Outstanding analysis, synthesis and writing skills are critical for success in this role.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and embed rigorous, robust data collection, collation and cleaning protocols and databases for rapid data processing to assure availability of rich data for analysis.
  • Conduct data cleaning and analysis, applying qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches.
  • Regularly report the progress on the research study.
  • Provide capacity strengthening and surge support on data handling for enumerators to assure integrity and quality of the research findings.
  • Explore and embed innovative approaches, including digital approaches to assist data collection and analysis.
  • Oversee data collection and supervise enumerators
  • Assist and assure adherence to appropriate ethical protocols and safeguarding policies and procedures across all aspects of data handling.
  • Assist the design and development of appropriate research tools
  • Assure adherence to appropriate data storage policies and procedures, to protect the confidentially, integrity, and privacy of participants and participant information.
  • Write the research report





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Post graduate diploma in in Monitoring and Evaluations,
  • Substantial experience in processing large quantities of data with tight turnaround times
  • Capabilities using statistical software [NVIVO, SPSS, STATA, KOBO, etc]
  • Comprehensive understanding of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and methods, and analytical approaches
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, especially in analytical writing
  • Excellent ability to cope with conflicting priorities and pressure

  • Credibility and a high degree of responsiveness and reliability
  • Reflective, responsive and respectful towards communities and colleagues
  • Resilient in challenging circumstances

Desirable

  • Accreditation or certification in specific areas relevant to role
  • Substantial experience in measurement and monitoring programmes in comparable contexts
