Job Summary:   The Network & Security Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the organization’s IT network infrastructure. The role ensures high system availability. optimal performance, and compliance with security standards while supporting business continuity through proactive monitoring and risk mitigation.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Network Infrastructure & Performance Management

  • Develop and implement network strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Design, deploy, and manage network infrastructure. including switches, routers, LAN/WAN, firewalls. load balancers, VPN devices, and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OBGP).
  • Ensure high availability and redundancy of critical network components to minimize downtime.
  • Configure, monitor. and troubleshoot network performance issues. implementing optimizations as needed.
  • Oversee routine maintenance of’ network devices to ensure optimal functionality.

Security & Compliance

  • Configure and manage network security devices to protect organizational assets.
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard internal and external network integrity.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection, and prevention measures to mitigate security threats.
  • Support the configuration and management of security implementations across network and system environments.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity policies. frameworks. and regulations.

Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide first, second. and third-level support for network-related issues.
  • Respond to and resolve network downtime incidents promptly.
  • Work with IT support teams to resolve escalated technical issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with application development teams and business units to implement secure network solutions.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on network architecture, configurations, and security policies.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and present findings to the Head of Infrastructure.
  • Provide reports on network performance. security incidents. and improvement recommendations.

Project Support & Vendor Management

  • Support project delivery by applying best practices in network design and optimization.
  • Configure third-party. site-to-site IPsec VPNs for business operations.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure the stability and security of network services.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science. Information Technology, Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP. CISSP, CEH or equivalent are an added advantage.
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Hands-on experience with networking technologies, including firewalls, VPNs. routers. and switches.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles. risk assessment. and mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex network issues and implementing performance enhancements

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering and security management.

Competencies & Skills

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of network architecture, security frameworks, and IT infrastructure.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and collaboration.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in configuration. monitoring, and troubleshooting.
