About the Company:
Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an independently governed institute within the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and has the mission “To strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development.” IDI has operations across Uganda as well as in a number of other African countries and has a staffing of over 1,000 managing multiple projects in research, clinical services, public health and training.
Job Summary: MK-8527-010 project is “A Phase 3, Randomized, Active-controlled, Double-blind Clinical Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Oral MK-8527 as HIV-1 Preexposure Prophylaxis in Cisgender Women”.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Observes good clinical practice and maintains participant confidentiality.
- Implements study specific clinical procedures, including physical examination of study participants.
- Prescribes medications for treatable medical conditions, and makes timely referrals to other agencies for acute medical conditions not covered by this research/ study.
- Timely management and reporting of adverse events
- Completes Case Report Forms and source documents, and ensures integrity of study data through quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities/procedures
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine
- Valid practicing license
- Up-to-date GCP training and certification
- Person Specification
- Good communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Conversant with local language (Luganda)
- Flexible working hours
- Qualifying residents of Kalangala are encouraged to apply
