Founded by Cuthbert and Olive Muhanguzi, the company was established on 23rd August 2007. Since its inception, S&S Ent Ltd has grown into a dynamic business with diverse operations, including a salon, washing bay, cyber café, supermarket, restaurant, and a private fresh produce bakery.

 

Job Summary:  The Supermarket Stores Manager at S&S Enterprise is responsible for the overall management and coordination of all store operations, including inventory control, merchandising, supplier relationships, and customer service. This role ensures that the supermarket operates efficiently and profitably while maintaining high standards of product presentation, quality, and safety. The Stores Manager leads a diverse team, oversees stock planning, and implements operational strategies that align with the company’s business objectives and customer service.

 

The Supermarket Stores Manager at S&S Enterprise is a critical leadership role responsible for driving the operational efficiency, inventory management, and overall success of the supermarket. By leveraging strong leadership, strategic planning, and a customer-focused approach, the Stores Manager ensures that store operations run smoothly, cost-effectively, and in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. This role is essential for maintaining high service standards, optimizing inventory, and achieving financial targets, thereby contributing significantly to the enterprise’s success.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee daily store operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning across all departments (e.g., inventory management, merchandising, and customer service).
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize workflow and enhance store performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate store performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, stock turnover, and customer satisfaction.

Inventory and Stock Management:

  • Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing waste and obsolescence.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and the procurement team to negotiate favorable terms and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Implement effective stock control systems, including regular audits and cycle counts, to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Oversee the organization of storage areas, ensuring that products are stored safely and efficiently.

Merchandising and Visual Display:

  • Ensure that all products are displayed according to company guidelines and that the store layout promotes an attractive and accessible shopping environment.
  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to design and implement promotional displays and seasonal campaigns.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of visual merchandising strategies and make adjustments as necessary.

Customer Service and Sales Support:

  • Foster a customer-centric culture by ensuring that all employees provide high-quality service to shoppers.
  • Address customer complaints and inquiries promptly, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop strategies that boost sales and enhance the customer experience.

Staff Management and Development:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise store staff, including cashiers, stock clerks, and sales associates.
  • Schedule staff shifts and manage workforce allocation to ensure adequate coverage during peak and off-peak hours.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities.
  • Promote a collaborative and motivated work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that the store complies with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols, including emergency procedures, to safeguard employees and customers.
  • Maintain records of compliance and participate in periodic audits to verify adherence to legal and company standards.

Financial Management:

  • Assist in managing the store budget, tracking expenses, and identifying opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Analyze sales data, operational metrics, and financial reports to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliation of daily transactions.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced certifications or training in retail operations, inventory management, or business administration are preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in retail management, preferably within a supermarket or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing store operations, inventory control, and team leadership.
  • Experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships is an advantage.
