Job Title: Subsidiary Accountant

Reports to: Senior Subsidiary Accountant
About Organisation:
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
Job Summary: To manage the financial accounting affairs of UNOC’s subsidiary companies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts within set timelines and in accordance with Company policies and accounting procedures.
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and year end reporting pack
- Provide input into all Project Reports.
- Manage inter-company transactions between the parent company (UNOC) and the subsidiaries.
- Manage cost allocations between UNOC and the subsidiaries.
- Conduct day to day inter-company control account reconciliations.
- Support the statutory Audit exercise by providing necessary schedules & reconciliations; contact with staff required by the Auditors & compilation of management response to Audit findings.
- Prepare local statutory financial reports.
- Implement of assigned audit actions for the subsidiary businesses.
- Support the subsidiaries in implementation of controls framework.
- Participate in year-end stock takes for subsidiaries.
- Conduct day to day monitoring of progress and reporting on capital projects for the subsidiaries on a monthly basis.
- Support the Subsidiary General Managers in management of risks.
- Develop and maintain the Fixed Assets registers for the Subsidiaries.
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor(s).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related fields.
- Full Professional Membership in ACCA / CPA.
Knowledge and Experience
- A minimum of four (4) years working experience in a Finance Function from a reputable and busy corporate Institution.
- Proficiency in Excel; ERPs; SAP is an advantage.
- General Knowledge of the Oil & Gas Value Chain is an added advantage.
