About the Company:

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of Health.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with study investigators to identify potential study participants
  • Conduct the informed consent process with study participants
  • Conduct in-depth interviews (IDIs) with health sector actors and community members, as described in the study protocol.
  • Carry out transcription and translation of IDIs
  • Develop codes for analysis as per themes emerging from the data collected in the study and prepare a codebook.
  • Conduct qualitative data analysis following the identified themes.
  • Participate in debrief meetings with the study investigators on a weekly basis during the data collection period and at the end of the data collection process
  • Participate in development of dissemination messages from the study findings.
  • Participate in writing reports and manuscripts emerging from the data collected in the study





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in humanities including Social work, Social Science, sociology, community psychology, Development Studies among others
  • A master’s degree in humanities including Social Work, Social Science, Community Psychology, Development Studies among others or public health.
  • Over five years experience conducting qualitative research including conducting interviews
  • Good knowledge of GCP with a valid certificate
  • Experience using qualitative data analysis software including NVivo
  • Integrity, good communication, interpersonal and or people skills
  • Ability to operate in fast and diverse communities with intense demands
  • Ability to speak Samia, Ateso, Kiswahilli and Luganda
