Job Summary: The Supermarket Receiving Clerk at S&S Enterprise is responsible for efficiently managing the receipt, verification, and documentation of incoming shipments to the supermarket. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that inventory levels are accurate and that products are stored and distributed properly. The Receiving Clerk works closely with the Inventory Manager, Suppliers, and other relevant departments to maintain high standards of operational efficiency and product quality. This role is essential for minimizing discrepancies, preventing stockouts, and supporting overall store operations.
The Supermarket Receiving Clerk at S&S Enterprise plays an essential role in ensuring the accurate and efficient management of incoming shipments. By maintaining high standards in receiving, documentation, and inventory management, this role contributes significantly to the overall operational success of the supermarket. Candidates for this position must demonstrate attention to detail, strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the physical ability to handle the demands of the role. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Receiving and Inspection:
- Unload deliveries from suppliers and inspect shipments for accuracy, quality, and condition.
- Verify that the quantities received match purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or quality issues immediately to the Inventory Manager.
Documentation and Data Entry:
- Record all incoming shipments accurately in the inventory management system and maintain detailed logs for auditing purposes.
- Complete receiving reports, update purchase orders, and ensure that all documentation is properly filed and stored.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
Inventory Management:
- Assist with organizing and storing received items in the designated areas to facilitate easy retrieval and inventory accuracy.
- Perform regular cycle counts and assist in periodic physical inventory audits.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate with the Inventory Manager regarding reorder requirements.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to company policies, health and safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures during the receiving process.
- Use proper handling techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE) when unloading and moving goods.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area to prevent accidents and ensure efficient workflow.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with store staff, inventory teams, and suppliers to resolve any issues related to deliveries.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing receiving processes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Additional certifications in logistics, inventory management, or supply chain operations are an advantage but not mandatory.
Experience:
- Prior experience in a receiving, inventory, or logistics role in a retail or similar environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is beneficial.
