Job Summary: Our client is a parastatal company whose primary purpose is to generate electric power for use in Uganda and for sale to neighboring countries. The organization is entrusted with the critical mandate of sustainably generating reliable, high-quality, and reasonably priced electricity to drive socio-economic development. This is achieved through the implementation of various projects, including the development of hydroelectric power stations and other renewable energy initiatives.
The main purpose of the role is to monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels that meet business requirements to ensure optimal utilisation and minimize stock outs and excess inventory. To oversee and coordinate all activities related to inventory management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support financial planning, budgeting and ongoing performance analysis in relation to critical spares
- Develop and produce monthly inventory/stores reports, accompanied by other key metrics
- Leverage inventory system knowledge to prepare analyses to support management initiatives and audit requests
- Ensure accurate and timely recognition of all stock in the system as well as issuing, transfer and revaluation.
- Ensure the establishment adherence to sound internal controls related to stock management.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of physical stock and stock in the system.
- Ensure accurate valuation of all stock item and accurate reconciliation with the trial balance.
- Oversee and coordinate all activities related to stock taking including scheduling, review of reports and stock adjustment journals and postings.
- Ensure proper arrangement of inventory in an orderly system at all locations to ease issuance and protection from physical damage.
- Oversee all activities related to disposal of obsolete stock.
- Mentor and supervise Stores Officers.
- Review and revision of inventory management policies & procedures to best suit the needs of the organisation.
- Perform all assigned month-end duties, including journal entries, account reconciliations and other reporting schedules
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A second upper honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting Option) or Accounting and Finance, supplies or logistics management
- Full ACCA, CPA or CIPS
Related Job Experience/Qualification: The Experience required to perform this job.
- 5 years’ experience in a related field, with 2-years supervisory level.
- Experience in management of electricity power generation and complex infrastructure projects is an added advantage.
Additional Skills/Competences: In addition to the experience and educational requirements listed above
- Computer literacy in different programs (Excel, Microsoft Word).
- Organisational and interpersonal Communication Skills.
- Excellent planning and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of Accounting Packages such as Microsoft 365 Business Central.
