About Organisation:
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
Job Summary: To support the manager board affairs in coordinating and supporting activities of the UNOC board including but not limited to organising venues for board meetings, distributing of board papers to board members, filing of board documents etc, to enable effective and efficient functioning of the board.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Board Affairs Unit.
- Originate Board calendar and training planners for the Board
- Originate and manage all procurements necessary for Board work
- Draft advisory notes on corporate or any other matter as required
- Draft relevant reports relating to Board matters as and when required
- File all relevant governance documents in a timely manner
- Book calendars for Board meetings and ensure that all Board meetings run smoothly
- Support the Manager Board Affairs in drafting and reviewing relevant Board documents
- Follow through with various parties to prepare Board papers ahead of Board meetings; review and ensure that Board papers are presented in the agreed formats
- Implement tools and frameworks for control of Board Documents
- Support and participate in initiatives and processes to create awareness across the UNOC business on legal, regulatory, and internal policies compliance requirements
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor(s)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelors degree (Hons) in law (LLB)
- A diploma in Legal Practice.
- Membership to ICSA is an added advantage
Knowledge and Experience
- At least 6 (six) years’ relevant experience in a busy corporate entity of high repute.
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with Board matters and in providing advisory services in a large corporate entity
