Job Summary:   To support the implementation of project activities on the Uganda Refugee and Host Community Integrated Resilience Project in Parolinya Refugee settlement in Obongi District, Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen coordination between formal and informal GBV and Child Protection structures and ensure that survivors of GBV and Child protection have access to coordinated protection and recovery services.
  • Enhance capacities of Refugee Led Organizations (RLOs) on Peace, Child Protection, GBV prevention and response and facilitate RLOs to support community structures (CPCs/parasocial workers/ MAGs/Peace champions) to create awareness on GBV and Child Protection issues.
  • Enhance capacities of parents on responsive and protective parenting practices.
  • Strengthen conflict sensitivity programming among project staff and partners including district leadership.
  • Enhance the capacities of target communities to prevent and respond to conflicts.
  • Produce monthly project implementation plans based on the main project plan
  • Develop activity concepts and terms of reference for specific components of the work plan, to facilitate implementation of project activities.
  • Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports on project activities and present them to the project coordinator.
  • Ensuring compliance to the ChildFund Child Safeguarding policy and PSEA standards.
  • Collaborate with other actors and Community Based Child Protection Systems to ensure a coordinated approach to project implementation, including participation in relevant workshops and meetings.
  • Participate in documentation on regular basis of project significant impact and success stories of change and share with the project team.
  • Performs any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the immediate supervisor.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, or Development Studies,
  • At least 3 years’ experience in working with refugees and other displaced people is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and GBV prevention and response approaches
  • Key skills in project planning and management required

Required Competencies

  • The ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work autonomously under pressure of deadline required.
  • Demonstrated diplomacy in building relationships, working collaboratively within a growing organization, and within broader external coalitions.
  • Knowledge of the local context and language is an added advantage.
  • Motorcycle riding skills are required.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering interventions in humanitarian settings
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of Sphere standards and HAAP (Humanitarian Accountability to the Affected persons)
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural/ethnic communities
