Job Title:  Loading/Site Representative

Duty Station: Tororo, Uganda

 

About Organisation:

Transeast Group has been in operation since 1990 and has a fleet size of over 300 prime movers with over 400 trailers comprising of combinations of semi, multi-axle, low loaders , step decks,  bunkers and tankers.

 

Job Summary:   Supervise and coordinate activities of drivers involved in loading and offloading cargo from trailers, low loaders, containers, and ships, and moving materials or products.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and coordinate the loading schedules for incoming trucks and loading orders from the Operations Manager.
  • Assign job tasks to drivers according to loading and offloading schedules and observe loading of conveyance to determine conformance to loading patterns and to prevent damage to cargo during loading and transit.
  • Verify cargo loaded or offloaded against the delivery notes.
  • Inform drivers to transport cargo to the respective destinations and direct them accordingly.
  • Check inbound and outbound cargo for correct quantities.
  • Record information regarding the shipment of cargo and report to the Operations Manager promptly.
  • Conduct handover meetings when drivers change trucks, trailers, or bulkers to different loading points.
  • Ensure periodic reviews with the Operations Manager to maintain and achieve turnaround time.
  • Hold toolbox meetings with drivers at loading sites to explain safety precautions at loading sites.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management from time to time.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Diploma in Procurement and Logistics.
  • A Certificate in Clearing and Forwarding is an added advantage.
  • Must have no criminal record and possess a police certificate of good conduct.
  • Must have a valid Ugandan Passport or National ID.

Work experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in loading work.

Competencies:

  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English and Kiswahili.
  • Awareness of safe driving rules and traffic codes within the East and Central Africa region.

Personal attributes:

  • Team Player.

Personal specifications:

  • High level of integrity.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks within scheduled time limits.
  • Must maintain high concentration levels throughout work schedules.
