About Organisation:
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
Job Summary: Responsible for the conceptual design and build assigned UNOC internal IT solutions and development projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for justifying and coordinating ICT projects as may be assigned from time to time.
- Technical lead for the design, development and implementation of new projects, applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages
- Support the preparation of financial budgets and present proposals for capital ICT projects
- Support the preparation of IT equipment and software specifications and preparing requisitions for approval by the Projects Manager
- Work with End Users and ensure their participation in project definition and usage, including but not limited to participation in concept proofing prior to rollout of new software
- Offer technical guidance to IT Project Teams during software developments and integrations to ensure that new software and hardware for new projects is fully integrated into the existing IT architecture
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor(s)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree (Hons) in ICT or related studies
- Project Management Certification e.g. PRINCE2 or PMP and a proven practitioner for at least 3 years.
- Certification in any of the Programming Languages.
Knowledge and Experience
- A minimum of Six (6) years working experience in Information Technology, three (3) of which must have been in Software Development and/or IT Projects Management
- Proven experience in software development, systems automation, robotics and artificial intelligence.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and managing Microsoft 365 technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in the development and use of computer systems and quantitative modelling techniques for solving business problems and making managerial decisions
- Proven experience in use of modern techniques like Agile Methodology, Waterfall and use of programming languages like JavaScript, HTML / CSS, SQL, Python
