DFCU Bank is a fast growing commercial bank offering a variety of innovative products and services. DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Retail Banking Officer, the role holder will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a Marketing Plan and Business Strategy aimed at increasing dfcu’s market share and profitability within the Women in Business (WiB) Sector.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accelerate mass acquisition & drive retention for the WiB customer.
- Lead the development & implementation of competitive Marketing Plans and Sales Strategies to grow dfcu’s penetration of the WiB sector and drive up revenues.
- Develop and implement strategies to sustainably mobilize and retain deposits.
- Design strategies to ensure that customers are experiencing the promised value propositions and that mechanisms are in place for collecting & utilizing both positive & corrective feedback.
- Drive up digital platform utilization amongst WiB customers.
- Continuously monitor the quality of the WiB Client loans portfolio by reviewing credit reports and focusing the team on the collection of watch accounts.
- Take responsibility for the implementation of risk-management controls and statutory compliance across the WiB Portfolio.
- Actively contribute towards the development and implementation of an innovation and digital-transformation strategy that measurably enhances the WiB Sector’s competitive position; ensure improvement projects cost-effectively achieve their desired impacts.
- Train and equip the Sector’s staff (including branch representatives) to deliver consistently satisfactory experiences to customers.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline.
- 8 years’ experience in Banking with particular experience and exposure in Sales & Service;
- 5 years’ experience in a leadership role, in a related field.
- Proven track record of developing effective marketing plans and sales strategies, resulting in business growth.
- In-depth understanding of the Women in Business Sector and the associated customer segments (including typical customer requirements and appealing value propositions).
- Understanding of various product solutions, segments, and value propositions within the bank’s customer base; ability to craft new products or programs to enhance customer uptake.
- Demonstrated experience in the structuring of complex financial deals; with associated ability to negotiate and close sales.
- A deep understanding of risk management in a financial services organization.
- Demonstrated ability to establish credible and sustainable relationships with a broad range of stakeholders (including customers and partners).
- Computer knowledge especially spreadsheet, word &PowerPoint.
- Strong People management and Leadership skills
- Outgoing, self-motivated, assertive and proactive.
- A self-driver who is oriented and able to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Good presentation skills to senior-level audiences
- Strong analytical and innovative abilities.
- Effectiveness & passion
- Ability to develop a succession plan and mentor potential successors for key roles within the subdomain.
