Job Summary:   Relationship with the authorities, partners and any stakeholder is a key factor for the success of the company, during a transient period after appraisal campaign & FDP submission in the perspective of the launching of the Lake Albert development.

 

The role comprises of undertaking and managing geosciences projects to the highest standards and line management of all Geoscientists in the country. Additionally providing expert support to the wider organisation. Must have a good understanding of reserve calculations, business value, and petroleum economics. Previous Experience in risk assessment is a plus.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define, implement, co-ordinate and supervise the activities related to Geosciences in the subsidiary. These activities include the definition of objectives and validation of the work carried out by the Department with their respective internal and external (partners).
  • Representation of company’s interest in operated and non-operated joint venture meetings, TCMs, vis-à-vis authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Reservoir Engineering: Responsibilities include the validation of reserves of both Operated and non-Operated assets, recommendations to optimize field-reservoir-well management and conclusions following acquisition of data
  • Geology and sub-Surface: Responsibilities include the validation of synthesis studies and work related to drilling operations (definition of data acquisition, well locations, well proposals, final well reports, post-mortems, recommendations and conclusions following acquisition of data, conclusions of geological studies including modelling studies).
  • Geophysics: Responsibilities include the validation of proposed acquisition programs, seismic processing work interpretation of data
  • Data Management: to ensure a proper data management system within the subsidiary of all information related to geosciences subjects of Operated and non-Operated assets.
  • Manage both short and long term goals and strategies for geosciences work at the team and field level. Take part in the Company’s development strategy. Propose and recommend options for optimization of field-reservoir-well management and additional development. Play an active role in the writing of the annual Long-Term Plan of the subsidiary.
  • For the contracts under his responsibility, validate the invitations to tender parameters for contract negotiations. Control the assigned budget related to studies, studies and their related operations. Ensure the control of expenditures and justifies deviations, if any.
  • Define the appropriate technology utilization for company and develop a plan to achieve fit for purpose technical excellence.
  • Evaluate and assure geosciences technical excellence in mapping, remodeling, and reserves calculations.
  • Continually challenge geosciences team to think outside the box and look for new approaches to mapping and modelling.
  • Manage geosciences team in preparation, presentation, implementation and monitoring of department activities.
  • Assessment of assets with regards to all geo-scientific and subsurface matters from seismic section interpretation, structure mapping, reserves estimate and evaluation, production forecasting, reservoir management and budgeting.
  • Coach, train and assess the heads of departments (N-1). Define the personnel development / formation orientations for local geosciences staff. Manages and guides career development for technical staff.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • University degree (Master or equivalent) in Geology, Geophysics or Reservoir engineering
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry with at least 5 years’ experience managing a technical team.
  • Expertise and experience in exploration and field development with excellent problem-solving skills, ability to identify and solve unusual problems and able to utilise expert resources across the organisation and externally.
  • Has a full appreciation and understanding of the full cycle of oil field development with a working knowledge of integrated projects, uncertainty, risk and oilfield economics.
  • Proven ability to work with others and to motivate, set and achieve goals.
