Job Summary: Ensures that all matters concerning Export Transportation at Kampala Station are handled on time through strategic planning of cargo, and delivery, expediting departure of Assorted trucks, monitoring at the various locations to meet clients’ timelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee positioning of trucks
- Enable quick drop off containers and pick up
- Ensure 3rd party trucks are fit for purpose
- Push trucks for positioning and dispatch
- Coordinate shunting containers for quick delivery
- Develop a database of transporters at various ICD’s
- Verify consignments and recommend required loading standard
- Scheduling freight to be picked up and delivered
- Documentation of all export loadings
- Monitor and push delivery of Rail cargo
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A university degree in business administration, transport, logistics, commerce or economics, Diploma in logistics or related field.
- Must have demonstratable detailed understanding of the logistics, Transportation and must be result oriented.
- A certificate in East Africa freight forwarding practicing course may be an added advantage.
Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years working experience in a reputable clearing and freight forwarding/ shipping company/ logistics company.
Personal Attributes:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals in the diverse environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Keeping continuous improvement in mind.
- High integrity, self-driven and able to meet rigorous deadlines.
- Ability initiate and complete assignments and to work under demanding circumstances with minimal supervision.
