About Organisation:
Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute (UWRTI) is a semi-autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, established by Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute Act, 2016. The Institute is mandated to: “Undertake research and training services for sustainable conservation and management of Uganda’s wildlife resources.’’
Job Summary: To assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of institute physical infrastructure and electric installation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Guiding the review and development of Construction Guidelines and Technical Hand Books of the institute in line with the nationally approved standards and Guidelines.
- Liaising with the Physical Planner in the development of technical plans and specifications for the institute infrastructure development projects in line with the approved National Standards.
- Carrying out technical audits of civil/ structural project proposals to ensure adherence to structural design integrity and safety, and that any deviations are formally approved.
- Ensuring maintenance of the institute’s physical infrastructure and electric installations through preparation of maintenance plans, programs, schedules and budgets.
- Monitoring and evaluating implementation of the institute civil works projects with site teams to ensure adherence to design projects specifications and required standards.
- Providing technical guidance and support during preparation, procurement and execution of contractual agreements for civil works contractors in line with the Civil Works Unit’s mandate.
- Preparing inspection audits reports in regard to the institute estate to ensure safe and secure environment the Institute community.
- Verifying and recommending payments of civil works contractors upon satisfactory performance.
- Planning, budgeting and accounting for the resources and performance of the Civil Works Unit.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An Honors Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.
- Should be a registered Member of the Engineers Registration Board.
- Working Experience: Three (3) years working experience as an Estates Officer in Government or equivalent from a reputable Organization
