About Organisation:

The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.

 

Job Summary:   Responsible for the analysis and costing of UNOC projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs and actual spend back to underlying project activities as well as construct and monitor cost related data.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of Cost Control reports.
  • Participate to Monitoring and Control of the Project expenditures.
  • Plan, Study, and collect data to determine costs of general business activity and projects, such as raw material purchases, machine and labour costs
  • Analyze input material unit costs and suggest changes where necessary
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on product costs
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs (periodical production & price variances)
  • Monitor project cost reviewing actual spending vs budgeted amount to determine variances
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and cash flow analysis as requested by Management to enable them to make more informed decisions regarding projects
  • Prepare accounting accruals related to projects to ensure that the books correctly reflect the value of the project
  • Provide inputs into the preparation of the project capital expenditure budget by preparing analysis and data related to specific elements as directed
  • Prepare individual budgets for each phase of a large project, based on the overall project budget in order to gain further clarity
  • Prepare section reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet Company and section requirements, policies and standards
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor(s)




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Economics, Quantity Surveying or Accounting.

Knowledge and Experience  

  • A minimum of four (4) years working experience in the Oil and Gas Sector or a busy Manufacturing or Construction Environment.
  • Proven experience of working with different departments on the development and analysis of cost standards for Key Projects
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, PIMS + Ms Applications Excel, Word, PowerPoint) + Project Management Software (SmartSheet, Primavera, Trello, Jira)
  • Possession of Project Management (PMP) Certification is an added advantage
