About Organisation:
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
Job Summary: To support the senior communications officer in the execution of day-to-day activities related to promoting UNOC on all media in line with the annual communications plan.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear, consistent, and timely communication within and outside the company to ensure alignment and collaboration among employees and stakeholders in line with the annual Communication plan.
- Build and maintain a positive image of the organization by developing and disseminating messaging through media, public relations efforts, and other channels.
- Foster relationships with stakeholders, partners, media, and the community to amplify the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives.
- Develop compelling narratives to engage audiences, promote programs or products, and create a strong brand identity.
- Act as a focal point and liaise with media agencies in the execution of activities in alignment with the communication plan.
- Set up, maintain, and develop processes necessary to support all activities related to the area of protocol and regularly monitor progress to maintain the integrity of the overall Company’s business strategy.
- Respond to media queries expeditiously
- Arrange and ensure attendance of talk shows (Radio & TV)
- Draft ready-to-use press releases to be shared with the media.
- Coordinate content on the intranet and regularly update the pages managed by the Department
- Ensure crisis communication plans are comprehensive and appropriately coordinated with relevant technical departments
- Participate in planning and budgeting activities for the Corporate Affairs department
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor(s).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Mass communication, Public Policy, International Relations, Social Sciences; Languages and Linguistics or any other relevant degree.
Knowledge and Experience
- At least four (4) years of professional practice in communications, public affairs; international relations, in a busy corporate entity of high repute.
