Job Summary:   The Credit Supervisor will be responsible for the entire credit/loan application process at the branch level which involves the consistent application of credit policy, periodic credit monitoring and reviews of existing customers and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential loan customers in line with Bank policies and provide oversight to performance of personal bankers.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the achievement of the microfinance targets/budgets in terms of growth and quality in the assigned branch.
  • Oversee approvals of loans in line with Branch/Head Office credit committee, managing the loan administration, monitoring, and recovery processes in compliance with the Bank policies and procedures.
  • Conduct pre-disbursement field visits to support a detailed loan appraisal process including assessment of the client’s business before Loan approval as per set policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor repayment of the loans disbursed and support the Personal Bankers with loan recovery.
  • Organize microfinance arrears review meetings in the assigned branch and follow up closure of actions.
  • Visit delinquent clients to identify the reason for delinquency and develop various delinquency prevention interventions to ensure qualitative loan portfolio growth.
  • Conduct spot-checks for loans disbursed by personal bankers and monitor the loan process in line with Bank’s internal controls.
  • Prepare weekly reports on performance of personal bankers and any ad hoc reports as and when requested by management.
  • Collect and share feedback from the customers with management regarding their satisfaction on microfinance and IHFL products and services offered by the bank with the aim of improving customer experience and design adapted products based on client’s needs.
  • Developing and executing plans that will lead to achievement of the microfinance Business Targets in the assigned branch and implement the microfinance Business strategies set by the Bank.
  • Regularly meet( daily/weekly/monthly) with personal bankers at the assigned branch to identify and propose solutions to issues that may affect them in meeting their individual targets.
  • Mobilise deposits from existing and new customers to finance the microfinance loan book at the branch.
  • Responsible for the turn around time for microfinance loans at the branch and following up loans that have been submitted to the Head office for approval or disbursement.
  • Cross selling of other products and services of the bank to increase the Bank’s income streams from existing customers.
  • Any other duties may be assigned from time to time by your immediate supervisor and other line managers.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An honours degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management, or any relevant field.
  • Relevant certification or practical exposure in Credit Analysis in the financial services sector is preferable.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Banking or similar environment with at least 2 in a credit analysis/evaluation/underwriting related role.
  • Advanced, computer literacy, numerical skills, and statistical skills.
  • Team player, ability to work under pressure and in position to exercise excellent judgment.
