Job Title: Technician Generation Factory

Duty Station: Jinja, Uganda
About Organisation:
Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) is a leading sugar manufacturer in Uganda. KSL boasts of two sugar estates, one in Kakira – Jinja and the other in Kayunga.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Fleet Maintenance and Roadworthiness
- Ensure TATA lorries are clean, well-maintained, and roadworthy.
- Confirm the availability and proper condition of registration documents, insurance, hazard warning triangles, seat belts, reflectors, tools, etc.
- Oversee and schedule periodic maintenance and cleaning.
Driver Management
- Validate and monitor the validity of driving permits for all drivers.
- Alert drivers to renew permits before expiration.
- Ensure drivers adhere to the stipulated number of trips and follow assigned routes and schedules.
Deployment and Operations
- Coordinate lorry deployment based on the harvesting program.
- Document and monitor route details, arrival, departure times, and tonnage delivered.
- Address delays and ensure efficient transportation schedules.
Reporting and Recordkeeping
- Record and analyze data on trips, fuel consumption, and lorry performance.
- Generate daily shift-wise reports and circulate them to relevant stakeholders.
- Address discrepancies, such as fuel misuse, with formal warnings.
Compliance and Safety
- Monitor adherence to the company’s safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Oversee turnboys in maintaining vehicle cleanliness and securing tools.
Fleet Monitoring
- Use fleet monitoring systems to track vehicle movements and address anomalies.
Other Duties
- Assist with additional tasks or assignments within the Estate as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Certificate/Diploma in Automotive Engineering (Craft Part I & II).
Experience
- At least 2 years in a similar role.
- Hands-on knowledge of TATA lorry repair and maintenance.
Skills
Technical Skills:
- Valid driving permit with classes B and CI.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel for report generation and data management.
Analytical Skills:
- Ability to interpret data and make actionable recommendations.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong communication, helpful demeanor, and ability to work professionally under pressure.
People Skills:
- Ability to build trust and respect with team members and management.
