About the Company:
Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and interested candidates who wish to join the Yalelo Uganda SMC Limited’s Graduate Trainee Programme for a period of 12 months. The candidates should possess a Bachelors degree, but preference shall be given to those with a Bachelors degree in the following fields:
- Fisheries and Aquaculture,
- Fisheries and Water Resources,
- Information Technology/Computer Science,
- Transport and Logistics Management,
- Environmental Management,
- Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
The Graduate Trainee Programme
Successful candidates will join the Graduate Development Programme under the supervision of a Departmental Team Lead or Supervisor and will be attached to various departments according to their field of study.
The programme is designed to: (i) enable the trainees to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, (ii) provide trainees with industry experience and practical knowledge of working in a world-class aquaculture facility at Yalelo and (iii) equip them with working experience for their future professional careers.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized academic institution in one of the specified fields listed above.
- Must be a graduate of 2023, 2024, and 2025 only.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Good oral written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills.
