Job Summary: Responsible for carrying out a preventive maintenance program on municipal vehicles and for the required maintenance and mechanical repairs on disabled equipment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Notifies Team Leader of potentially dangerous systems and takes corrective action.
- Changes hydraulic components of aerial platforms, diggers, derricks, cranes, and power-operated equipment.
- Use work management systems, engineering databases, and maintenance documents to perform work.
- Check mechanical systems on a routine basis for problems or abnormalities.
- To set up, adjust, install, dismantle, and repair various plant equipment, primarily mechanical service equipment and motors in the facility.
- Tests equipment to check operation, and tests equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
- Makes preventive maintenance equipment check and inspection of assigned equipment, report findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
- Examines defects and analyzes causes and, where possible, takes corrective action.
- Performs varied mechanical duties such as dismantling, moving, cleaning, repairing and installing facility equipment -Uses hoists, forklift trucks, rollers or trolleys to move machinery.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or training/certificates in a related field with 5 years of experience in a similar position.
- 18 years of proven work experience with advanced knowledge in strong and heavy machinery and equipment maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, caterpillars, excavators Graders, and others.
- Good at troubleshooting hydraulic, Pneumatic, and component failure and good knowledge of detecting mechanical and electrical faults using machines like gauges.
