About the Company:
Statewide Insurance Company Limited (SWICO) is a Ugandan based Leading Insurance Company with branches all over the Country.
Job Summary: Identify, assess and report on operational risks
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the preparation of plans and strategies for the effective assessment and management of risks
- Participate in developing appropriate tools for monitoring operational risk exposures
- Review and assess inherent risks within new processes and systems and make relevant recommendations to the Manager
- Review existing processes and system to identify risk exposures and recommend appropriate mitigation measures
- Provide technical support to the underwriting and claims and reinsurance departments in the assessment and management of risks associated with the services they render
- Undertake sensitization/training of staff on operational risk control
- Record in a database, all incidents of risk reported from operational areas and prepare periodic and ad hoc incident reports; analyzing the causes and recommending appropriate control measures
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc operational risk reports as advised by the Manager
- Monitor developments in the environment and identify potential risk exposures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a University Degree in Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Commerce
Additional Training/Qualifications/Certification Necessary
- Possession of relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Risk Management Professional; or a professional qualification in insurance at the level of Diploma CII or its equivalent
- Experience in risk management, audit or underwriting, in reputable organizations is an added advantage.
