Job Title: Research and Development Officer

Reports to: Head of Marketing, Research and Development
About the Company:
Statewide Insurance Company Limited (SWICO) is a Ugandan based Leading Insurance Company with branches all over the Country.
Job Summary: The Research and Development Officer will be responsible for research and development of insurance products.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under leadership of the Head of Marketing, Research and Development, the Research and Development Officer shall:
- Develop, review and implement research and development strategy
- Lead the development of new products
- Augment existing products by analyzing statistics regarding market development; acquiring and analyzing data; consulting with internal and external sources to meet changing client demands
- Maintain research database by identifying and assembling marketing information.
- Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products
- Conduct analysis of customer research, current market conditions and competitor information to guide in decision making
- Provide competitors’ and market analysis trends through research and development
- Conduct research to advise on customer requirements / market demands
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Research, Marketing or business field
- Additional Training/Qualifications/Certification Necessary
- Professional Qualification in Insurance, Research or Marketing or Sales
Minimum Experience and Exposure Necessary
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in undertaking research, preferably in the service industry
Key Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of market research and product development o Knowledge of general insurance products
- Understanding of the insurance market and processes
Key Skills Necessary
- Strong research skills
- Good communication skills o Excellent interpersonal skills.
