Welthungerhilfe (WHH), founded in 1962, is one of Germany’s largest non-governmental aid and development agencies. We have worked in Uganda since 1986, in partnership with the Government of Uganda, national and local NGOs, jointly improving the livelihoods of the most vulnerable population in rural areas through interventions that increase their Food and Nutrition Security, improve sustainable access to WASH services, innovative youth skilling and women’s empowerment programs in five regions of Uganda.

Job Summary: The Partnership Advisor will support the implementation of our partner strategy in Uganda. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering and managing relationships with local and international partners to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of our programs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Partnership Development:
- Identify and engage with potential partners, including NGOs, government agencies, private sector entities, and community-based organizations.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships that align with Welthungerhilfe’s mission and objectives.
- Maintain a partnership database with potential partners
- Coordinate partnership assessments
- Facilitate the negotiation of partnership agreements.
- Review partnership agreements, budgets and annexures prepared at project level for compliance with HQ standards.
- Facilitate the signing of partnership agreements, budgets and annexures as required.
- Regularly update Partner Agreements based on lessons learnt and new compliance requirements
Strategy Implementation:
- Support and monitor the implementation of the partner strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and programmatic priorities.
- Monitor and evaluate partnership activities to ensure they meet agreed objectives and deliverables.
- Oversee and organize the technical assistance and capacity-building support to partners.
- Build capacity of Welthungerhilfe staff to successfully implement partnership projects
Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for partners at the country office, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively.
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with partners to ensure mutual benefit and long-term cooperation.
- Organize and facilitate regular partner meetings and workshops.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on partnership activities, outcomes, and lessons learned.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all partnership agreements, activities and reports (narrative & financial) submission.
- Contribute to the development of communication materials to highlight partnership successes.
- Collaborate with Welthungerhilfe HQ on partnerships and learn from other countries partnership approach
Capacity Building:
- Support Head of Project to assess the capacity needs of partners and develop tailored capacity-building plans.
- Organize and/or deliver training and workshops to enhance partners’ skills and knowledge in areas such as project management, financial management, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Organize partner compliance reviews, issue reports and track progress.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in partnership management, preferably within the NGO sector.
- Strong understanding of the development landscape in Uganda.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
