Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- This role is accountable for the effectiveness of Global Markets operations and control framework and performs the oversight of the first line of defense function for Global Markets in Uganda. This role will be required to perform all special business management/COO functions, with specific emphasis on the Operational, Risk and Business development aspects of the Business Management function, as detailed below.
- Accountable for the development and implementation of robust control methodology and frameworks within Global Market, aligning to Group standards and taking into consideration, international best practice and regulatory requirement for country.
- Develop, implement and maintain an appropriate control framework across the Global Markets– taking into consideration policies, minimum standards, guidelines, training, processes, practices and procedures and ensure alignment to changing legislative requirements and international best practice and standards.
- Development of appropriate co-ordination of control surveillance services from Internal Audit, Operational Risk and Compliance
- Business continuity planning and recovery processes
- Business process and procedure design, implementation, dissemination and GM Africa Policies management in line with Group and GM Policies and Compliance.
- Constant review and enhancement of Control process in GM and Enabler support functions support of GM
- Proactively identify & research local and international best practices to implement new and improved processes and controls in GM Africa Region to minimize Internal, External as well as Central Banks audit findings and reduce the risk of frauds.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- First Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, IT, Engineering or a related filed
- 5–10 years of experience in Global Markets, Treasury, Investment Banking, or a related financial services field
- Demonstrated experience in strategy, financial management, and operational support.
- Solid knowledge of financial products (FX, fixed income, derivatives, equities, etc.) and market structures.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in risk management and regulatory compliance frameworks
