Job Summary: The IT Assistant Technician provides support to the IT department by maintaining, troubleshooting, and assisting with technical issues related to computer hardware, software, and networking systems. This role plays an important part in ensuring the smooth operation of technology infrastructure within the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for computer systems, networks, and software applications.
- Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, ensuring quick resolution to minimize downtime.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and network equipment.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates on company software and hardware systems.
- Assist in setting up and configuring new equipment for employees, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Respond to help desk and provide timely assistance to employees with IT-related problems.
- Assist in managing and troubleshooting network connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi setups.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of IT equipment, ensuring adequate supplies and equipment replacements when necessary.
- Ensure all IT systems are secure and up to date with the latest software patches and updates.
- Document and maintain records of troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
- Handle all IT administrative work.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Response Time to Help Desk Requests – Time taken to respond to IT support requests.
- Resolution Time for Technical Issues – Average time taken to resolve a technical issue.
- First-Time Fix Rate – Percentage of issues resolved on the first attempt.
- User Satisfaction Rate – User satisfaction with the IT support provided, often measured through post-resolution surveys or feedback.
- System Downtime/Availability – Percentage of time systems are up and running without failure.
- Asset Management and Inventory Accuracy – Accuracy in tracking and maintaining IT equipment inventory.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Residency status: Preferably Ugandan National
- Qualification: A Degree/Diploma or Certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Linguistic skills: Fluent in English (Spoken & Written)
- Experience: 2-3 Years’ experience in technical support or IT support role is preferred
- Age: Between 28 – 30 Years of Age
Key Skills:
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Office 365, and cloud-based applications.
- Experience with network management tools, computer hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and various software applications.
- Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).
- Strong communication skills to effectively assist users with technical issues.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
