Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- General Management & Supervision of the Utilities department.
- Direct Reporting to the Maintenance Manager over all issues from the section.
- Responsible for Periodic and Preventive Maintenance planning for all department Machinery in liaison with the Maintenance Manager and oversee the plan execution.
- To oversee and coordinate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Health Practices (GHPs)within the department.
- Coordinate the team for teamwork in quick problem troubleshooting and rectification to minimize machine downtime and ensure Maximum Efficiency.
- Coordinate the team to ensure Energy Conservation to minimize costs and maximize profits.
- Coordinate the team to ensure Documentation and all department Record keeping.
- To identify the necessary trainings required by the department Staff and liaison with the Maintenance Manager for Implementation.
Outputs and Expected Results
- Maintain, repair, and optimize plant and associated devices: Locate plant, equipment, spares and relevant documentation/ systems. Plan, and prepare the job, Carry out repairs/ maintenance. Continuously improve (optimize) plant, process equipment and systems
- Optimize production performance: Interpret and implement the production plan for the shift. Measure and record performance attributes, optimize usage of resources support the team to improve process quality Facilitate team problem-solving.
- Operate Utilities plant and equipment Prepare for plant start-up plant Run the plant Shut down the plant Execute cleaning of plant Complete all documentation Control inputs usage Ensure plant is in working order Maintain safe and healthy work environment
- Work in teams Communicate effectively in the workplace Contribute to self and team development
- Apply the Manufacturing Way principles and practices Apply 5S standards and practices in the workplace
- Work and communicate effectively in teams, Operate and control the process according to SOP’s, conduct autonomous maintenance, manage quality at source, improve personal competence and flexibility, Maintain safe and healthy work environment
- Maintain a safe and healthy working environment Comply with safe, health and environmental procedures and legislation Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
Other duties
- Support the overall Utilities team initiatives and arrangements.
- Supporting the Utilities Specialist in leveraging Prosper initiatives in the department.
- Any other duties assigned by the Utilities Specialist
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or any relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment.
- Should be knowledgeable on high voltage systems and troubleshooting electric panels.
- Work experience in power generation with diesel generators/transformers.
- Basic knowledge of pumps, chillers, boilers and air compressors.
- Good reporting skills.
