Job Summary: Kampala Hospital Limited (KHL) is looking for a skilled and results-oriented Laboratory Technician to become a vital part of our healthcare team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through accurate laboratory testing and analysis.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC): Perform QA/QC procedures, including internal QC and proficiency testing (PT), for all test methods as outlined in the laboratory’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Safety Compliance: Review and implement safety protocols to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to internationally recognized laboratory safety standards.
- Specimen Management: Conduct specimen collection, documentation, accessioning, and examination in accordance with ISO 15189 standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment according to the service schedule, and regularly monitor equipment and environmental conditions to ensure optimal functionality.
- Inventory Management: Forecast the need for laboratory reagents and supplies for various sections, and request the necessary inventory from the laboratory store.
- Result Reporting: Review, report, and release laboratory results accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Educational Qualification: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience.
- Certification: Valid Allied Health Extract or APL.
- Advantageous Knowledge: Training or knowledge of Quality Management System
- (QMS) standards, such as ISO 15189, is an added advantage.
